It's been just over two years since I began The Perfect Storm and just under a year since I promised to do a PDF of it.  It's taken me this long to proofread it, add notes here and there and generally tweak it (slightly) to the point where I felt comfortable putting it in a more permanent form.  Mostly, I took out unnecessary epithets and tried to catch as many typo gremlins as I could (those things breed like rabbits, sigh), but the essential story hasn't changed in any significant way.   If you requested the PDF via a comment, I sent a mass e-mail to everyone I could before Yahoo! crashed.  If you did not receive the e-mail (or if you would like a PDF and hadn't asked for one before), please let me know in the comments below.  Please include your e-mail address in the comment.  All comments to this post will be screened.

Thank you all for your interest and patience as I did the final work on my baby.

As for the sequel, it's essentially plotted and I have about 60,000 words written - I just have to find time with my school schedule to actually put it all into a coherent structure.

Apologies to those who saw this on [livejournal.com profile] trauma_rec_fic - I have no clue how it posted there!

Mostly because it reminds me of the one Broadway show I went to, "Ragtime," with a lot of old people from the ninth circle of hell, uh, the area where my mom lives, who had NO idea what the play was actually about when they booked their tickets and were dead silent and/or asleep through most of it.  The discomfort on the bus ride home to Ohio was palpable.  I enjoyed it thoroughly.  I'm a bad, bad person.  Though their discomfort was more racially motivated than anti-BGLTQP, I found myself feeling happy that they'd been accidentally forced out of their narrow little box and even a tiny bit hopeful that perhaps something had made them think, even if it was just for the evening, before going back to that dour little corner of the red state in which I live.

Seriously, though - this could save a life, :).

For the full effect, you must watch all five parts... (They're all around two minutes apiece.)

"That's why I don't eat lobster or things like that, because it's alive when you kill it."

I refuse to watch the show, but these videos make the stupidity funny instead of brain-burning.

82%!!

I got an 82% on the test I thought I failed, so YAY!  This also means that I won't have to take BIO 100 and will be able to take the class I needed to take next quarter.  Overall, a WIN!  Now, I just have to do well on my math midterm today...

A big thank you to [livejournal.com profile] las  for her help studying!

For [livejournal.com profile] darth_eldritch - thanks [livejournal.com profile] heeroluva!
Because this is now my primary blog, rather than just my 'fiction' journal, I've changed the name, :).  Thanks to those who answered the poll - it made my choice a lot easier.  :)

If you watch nothing else today, please watch this.  The statistics listed are staggering.

Monkey and Apple is hit or miss.  This video is both NSFW and a hit, :).

I don't normally watch the Colbert Report, but this was GOLD!

So we went to see this last night at the $1.50 theater.  Wonderful!  I walked out smiling, :).

I honestly can't remember the last time I enjoyed a movie this much.  The writing was smooth, the cast was obviously having a blast and it was just thoroughly enjoyable from the moment when Frank (Bruce Willis) gets up at 6:00AM precisely with no alarm to the moment the end credits rolled.

I loved this movie.  I loved the violence.  I loved the over-the-top action scenes and implausible escapes.  I loved the characters and how they meshed together.  It's the first movie I've watched in forever that I actually want to own when it comes out on DVD.

How did I love it?  Let me count the ways.
Here there be spoilers! )

Bottom line:  I can see this as a movie I'll watch over and over on cable when it gets there and will continue to enjoy for years to come, :).
I just had a donor who wishes to remain anonymous donate $200 to the RSPCA, which means that they will be getting a 20,000 word story from me, :).   My squee level is at an all-time high!  :)

That said, I'm still going to take the two top bidders in these threads and write stories for them as well, :).

Hey, everyone, I signed up for two separate fund-raising efforts to help those affected by the Queensland, Australia floods.

My bid threads are here and here, so there are two chances have me write a story for you for a great cause, :).

Thank you in advance, :).

There are a lot of other great authors who are up for grabs as well, so even if you don't want me, please have a look and see if there's anyone else you like, :).
