A/N: Written for theawfuldodger, who prompted me: Jack/10th. Soap. Bonuspoints for bottom!doctor and D/s undertones :D

“This never would have happened if you’d ducked when I told you to!”

Jack was cross with him, that was certain. Still, there were worse things than Jack being cross. Speaking of which, Jack was coming towards him with what looked like a wetted handkerchief.

“What’s that for?” the Doctor asked warily.

“What do you think it’s for? You’ve got it all over you!” Jack leaned forward and began to scrub his face exactly as a human mother would her child. The Doctor discovered that he didn’t care for it one bit. He pulled back and away.

“Doctor. Don’t make me tie you up for this.”

Jack’s voice made him shiver, just a bit. It was ridiculous, really.  Over 900 years old and this, this boy was making him feel like he was barely out of diapers. Still, he couldn’t deny that he enjoyed it.

Jack’s touch on his face was quite pleasant, in any case, as he removed every trace of the… whatever it was… from his skin.

It was even more pleasant when they were finally done on the planet and they were safe in the Vortex.

Jack led him to their bath, started the taps in the tub, and slowly stripped him. Jack wouldn’t let him help and moved his arms gently but firmly to his sides whenever he tried.

It was odd, really. The regeneration who’d first met Jack never would have stood for this sort of treatment. Big ears and black leather jacket would have boxed the lad’s ears first, but he wasn’t that man anymore and sometimes it was just nice to be able to simply let go.

Jack always caught him. Jack would always be there to catch him. As always when this particular thought came to him, the Doctor was ashamed for it.

“None of that,” Jack whispered in his ear as he led him to the tub. Jack was incredibly perceptive, for a human. He always knew when the Doctor’s mind was straying to areas that the two of them had long ago decided were settled between them.

Jack led him to the tub, helped him into it and began to gently wash him from head to toe, still not letting him help in any way, shape or form.

He had to admit, it felt good, feeling Jack’s soap-slicked hands cover him from head to toe in comfort.

And soap.

For some reason that the Doctor had never had the courage to ask about, Jack always used a lot of soap whenever he did this, to the point where there were almost more bubbles than water.

The Doctor guessed that there was a memory there and though he sometimes felt the need to try and get Jack to (shudder) share his feelings, this wasn’t the time.

Jack’s hands were so gentle and for now, the Doctor vowed to simply enjoy them.

And the soap.

Being serious now, once again I have to compliment you on the brilliant and believable way you write character interactions we don't see in canon. Ever since I got into the DW/TW fandom I've thought it would take a lot to convince me of Jack/10 and you did it in what? 500 words or so lol

Maybe because you wrote it as though you were convinced?

I don't know if that's the case but I recall that when another fandom I'm in went through a "let's write cracky pairings just cause we're tired of the fandom OTPs" phase it was very obvious, even with the authors who did it seriously, when they weren't convinced.

Yeah all I really know is that it rang true for me, great way to start my saturday :)

You're right, actually, :). I have to admit that I groaned a little when I saw the prompt, because you know my Jack/Ten feelings, but if I really felt that I couldn't do it, I would have asked for another prompt, :).

Again, I'm really happy that it rang true - I may have to (gasp!) write more of this... Once I'm 'tired' of Jack/Ianto, ;).

So in my head I did a kind of fill in the gaps as I read and made i tI don't know an AU where they get together before Ten regenerated into Eleven and this happens after they figure out all the issues between them (this detracts nothing from the awesome convincingness of your writing :) it's just how I work).

I'd read more of it, or that Jack/Nine bunny you metioned awhile back, or well anything you want to write really lol :)

Count me in the camp with the Ten/Jack skeptics (despite how physically pretty the combo would be!) But you made it real. I really liked how Ten was different from Nine and more open with his vulnerability. And how accepting Jack was with that. I could see the backstory here in my mind and it's helping me visualize ways that Ten/Jack could work & stay in character.

I just wanted to say that I'm really enjoying these ficlets of yours. :)

Not so much my pairing, but I couldn't resist because I LOVE characters washing each other. It hits all the right buttons, and I think that Jack would definitely do this sort of thing to show love and affection. Nicely done :)

It's really early saturday morning and I haven't had my coffee yet, so sorry if this doesn't make a whole lot of sense. ;)

First of all, I'm IN LOVE with this! Every single letter of it is perfect! :D

Second, I must say that I totally agree with the comments about the pairing. It would never work in canon. But hey, a girl can dream though ;). I'm not into Jack/Ianto at all, I have this thing about Ianto's face which just makes me go "errrr... thanks but no thanks." And I cannot see Jack with Owen either. I don't think the Doctor himself is very slashable.

I als believe that it would take a lot of backstory to make it work, and it takes a very competent writer to think out a storyline that makes it work, and put it to paper. It takes an even more competent writer to do so in a ficlet! Bravo! :D You hint at a backstory (making me hungry for more), which sounds like it would work.
