Speaking Of Misogynists - Jim Jeffries

teleen_fictionSo I re-watched two of Jim Jeffries concerts tonight and discovered something I'd missed before.
He's a raging misogynist.
He had rape jokes, slut shaming, rape jokes, domestic violence jokes, rape jokes, objectification of women, and rape jokes.
And I laughed at him the first time I saw the concerts, mostly because as a woman I've been taught to laugh that stuff off since obviously he doesn't really mean it. It was only on the re-watch that I realized that no, it's not cool to fucking say that shit.
Ever.
Same reason I don't read "Penny Arcade" any longer. The moment they started making tee-shirts that said, "Team Dickwolves," on them, I was out. If you don't know the back story - PA is a gamers comic that made a joke wherein someone was "raped by dickwolves". Several of their fans wrote in upset, they gave a fauxpology, and started making tee-shirts that said, "Team Dickwolves." So, yeah, I don't read them any longer.
There are those who say that in humor, everything is fair game. Yeah, well, so long as there is gender inequality and homophobia, some things are NOT fucking fair game because when someone laughs at this horrible shit, it helps to perpetuate the culture where this shit happens.
There are also those who say that the world is just a horrible place and laughing about it can help one get through the day. Yeah, well, for me, it isn't funny. Jokes that involve homophobia, rape, and objectification of my gender just don't make me laugh anymore.
I guess I just don't have any sense of humor.

A few month ago I decided to post excerpts of Jack Holland´s book in my journal, just because I´m not able to overlook misogyny anymore. I want to find the right start... with a rape article of a German (highly regarded) newspaper, which is very good imo, but I have to translate it first.
And you know my poor English...

I own Jack Holland´s book in English too.
What do you think about the project in general?
