Child Slaves Made Your Halloween Candy: Stop Buying It

Someone on Facebook commented that the article itself was a bit sensationalist, which is true.  However, it has links to several other sources, which is why I'm linking it here.

Food for thought.

I tend to believe it, because about 90% of chocolate is grown in these countries. I have heard that before, and exploiting children does not surprise me.

Thank you for posting this.

You're quite welcome. As with the Dr. Pepper thing, this is another case where I feel a little put out to have to give up chocolate, but on the other hand feel horrible shame that I'm so privileged that I can choose to eat and drink things (or not) that essentially have no nutritional value.

One thing these two stories have done is improve my diet, intentionally or not.

I really cut out a lot of chocolate when I first heard this. And I love chocolate.

What's really sad is all the first world luxuries we have access to, and how much of it comes from exploited third world countries.
