The KKK had traditionally aligned themselves with the old school Southern Democrats. They favor a form of socialism that benefits whites. That said, they are in no way true liberals or Democrats in any sense of the word. They have also been known to make diplomatic overtures to the Black Panthers, which is why they are against the burning of the Koran. (They assume the Black Panthers are against Jews like they are.)

They and the Strormfront hate Sarah Palin and tea parties. They have always hated Republicans because Republicans represent the upper class to them, not the white worker. And today even more so because of all of the right wing support for Israel.

Of course this doesn't make them any less totally fucked in the head.

Men never go so whole souledly forth in the pursuit of evil save for it being in the name of faith. IIRC that and variants are credited to Blaise Pascal.
The enemy of my enemy.. sort of explains how we see some weird alliances and their shifting over time. Even the not so weird tend to shift.

There "was" a time when some Panther chapters allied with Jews to battle Klan thugs. Do recall that some of the prequel to Nation of Islam and similar more separatist ideologies gaining traction in the racial battles- Jews and many other minorities had the Klan as a common enemy to bond against.

History repeats. Do we ever learn? Too crazy for the KKK's endorsement? sigh, this one's off to bed and hopefully dreaming of a time when we'll no longer hate.

It's on record that the Klan made overtures towards the Black Panthers, but whether or not they were successful in convincing the Black Panthers to ally themselves with them is an entirely different thing, which honestly I didn't know. I've never seen the evidence that they were. And am not the least bit surprised that they were never successful in this. The KKK has a terrible history and that no one really would want to deal with them isn't surprising.

*sigh* it would be wonderful to see a time where there is no hate.

I was half asleep this morning when I first responded, but I thought about this today, and I wanted to tell you thanks about the info about the Black Panthers and Jewish groups uniting against the KKK, because that sounds about right.
