I've actually just placed him in a different category in my mind. There are atheists who just don't believe in god/religion/whatever, but they accept that other people do (like you and reddwarfer). And there are those who are actively against religion/god/whatever to the point of actually looping around and being religious about it. They're not the default atheist, so to speak, but the fundamentalists that you look at, facepalm and go "please don't judge me based on their crazy."
