If the name sounds familiar, it's because a couple of weeks ago he was called out for forwarding emails that contained racism, bestiality and porn, but it was okay because he apologized, "To any of the ladies I’ve offended, I apologize. I say this to the men out there who have never opened a graphic image on the Internet: Don’t vote for me. For those who have, I welcome your vote."
If the name is ringing a more recent bell, it's because of this:
At an appearance before Orthodox Jewish groups in Brooklyn on Sunday, Paladino said children should not be "brainwashed into thinking that homosexuality" is acceptable. He also took a swipe at his Democratic opponent, New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo (D), for marching in a gay pride parade with his daughters.
He's been backtracking a bit, though, saying that he would hire gays and stand up for their rights, but children shouldn't be exposed to them.
This is more of that "hate the sin, love the sinner" two-faced bigoted hypocritical bullshit that makes me want to vomit every time I see this asshat or someone like him.
You know, RIII was the one who had to point out to be that this was the same guy who did the bestiality e-mails because I honestly couldn't believe that one guy could have this much WTF in one campaign. He was actually saying that he preferred people who were open about their hatred, rather than hiding it behind this two-faced smarmy shit. I tend to agree. Don't tell me in one breath that you don't think that GLBTQP persons should be killed, but in the next that they shouldn't have anything to do with children.
Well, how fucking generous of you to say that we shouldn't be hurt for our identities, but that we must be kept away from the poor, innocent children.
Fuck you.
We are either human beings or we aren't. We are either worthy of EQUAL rights, liberty and respect... or we aren't. This "tolerance" bullshit is just that - bullshit. Equal protection means equal benefits, equal rights, equal consideration and equal respect. It means that our marriage isn't called something different. It means that no one has validity of their love dictated by the state. It means that every human being is given the dignity and freedom to be who they are and have the identity that is best for them without ignorant hate impinging on their freedoms.
I'm going to stop there, because this is too important to get caught up in rhetoric, so I'm just going to draw a line in the sand.
Either you stand up for all GLBTQP rights or I'm going to lump you in with the same hate-mongers who tortured a man and two boys in the same state that Carl Paladino wants to represent.
"Hate the sin, love the sinner," is hate speech. It allows weak-willed individuals with the spines of jellyfish to couch their hatred in nice-sounding terms. Being GLBTQP is not a fucking sin. It is not a fucking choice. And all of you who keep acting as though it is and refusing to see how your attitude harms other human beings whom you claim to care for and love, I shun you. I deny your 'right to your opinion'. I deny your god. I deny your voice to continue to treat others as second-class citizens on the the flimsiest of basis.
I deny you.

And finally, the horror that has pervaded his state of NY recently, as ten men torture and object rape three others for being gay, even forcing one of them to choose what they beat him with. Carl Paladino would hire gays, but not stop things like this from happening to them.
