Firefighters Watch As A House Burned Down

Firefighters watch as a house burned down.

And three dogs and a cat died.  No, no people, but four living beings died horrible deaths because a man forgot to mail in a $75 fee.

We, as a society, should be ashamed of ourselves.

I don't have a suffiently 'what the fuck?' icon for this. I always find it strange seeing the fire insurance plaques around the UK that are left up, that they ever existed at all. But to find out that the concept survives... I don't know if the attitude is barbaric, or if that's doing an unkindness to barbarians.

That is... I wish I could say unbelievable, but in this day and age it's all too believable.

My bio-father was a firefighter. There is no way in hell he would've let a house burn without doing anything, even if it meant his job. I may hate him for my own reasons, but he was a dedicated firefighter. It takes that sort to run into a burning building. I can't understand how these firefighters could do that. They're a disgrace to the profession and to all the firefighters who've died on the job.

Somehow...I am not surprised. Which is the scary part.

There goes the reputation of firefighters rescuing cats from trees...

This is disgraceful
