Obama Administration May Appeal DADT

I realize that they're sort of between a rock and a hard place, but give me a fucking break.

They don't have to appeal it, they simply have the option to do so.  But they're also supposed to protect all laws passed by Congress, so IDK...

Obama has said many times that he wants to repeal it, but yet he hasn't used his Executive Authority, (capitalized because it's pretty much all-encompassing in a time of war) to suspend it.

It's a case of a President not wanting to be the fucking Commander-in-Chief and just say, "This is the way it is, because I said so."  Obama really needs to find the passion and fortitude that we all thought he had in 2008 and just end it.

He needs to decide if he's really the Commander-in-Chief or a politician who's going to say that political pandering and trying to be 'bi-partisan' is more important than the rights and integrity of men and women who are fighting and dying in HIS name.

I like Obama, but his fuckery on this issue is quickly making me lose respect for him.

Just get rid of it.  Suspend all enforcement until Congress gets off its ass.  Do something besides tell GLTBQP persons that 'he's on their side' and that 'they're preaching to the choir'.  Stop pandering to the majority and protect the individual rights and freedoms of the minority.

I think what I love about this most is that the men are in drag, but they aren't made up as women or even really trying to be feminine.  There's something gorgeous about the showmanship here and I really enjoyed this.  I also love that there aren't any pre-defined gender roles here - they just are who they are, :).

Thanks, [livejournal.com profile] heeroluva, for pointing me towards it.
